MUSEUMS AND EXHIBITIONS
We participated in the open competition for the development of galleries at the GSDMA ( Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority) Earthquake Museum at Bhuj.
The museum building was structured on the slope of the Bhujiyo Dungar and inspired by the architecture from the region and Dhola Vira.
Our designs of the museum space was based on an experiential understanding of the event in time coupled with a comprehensive vision of understanding the culture and heritage of Kutch.
Galleries documenting the earthquake and the rehabilitation effort were supplemented by spaces designed around flora fauna, landscapes and human settlements from the region.
Our proposal was short listed as the second in the three submissions made to GSDMA.
The Museum on Wheels project involved the conceptualisation and design of a mobile museum education unit for the CSMVS Mumbai. Matrika Design Collaborative alongside its engineering team and associates designed this bus from the chassis to a complete unit bristling with exhibition and display aides for conducting museum education and workshops. The bus has the ability to hold exhibitions inside and also open out to become a medium for remote exhibitions outside.
