OUR STUDIO
Matrika Design Collaborative is a multidisciplinary design studio based on the principles of developing design synergies between individuals with varied design and development backgrounds in an attempt to create comprehensive design solutions. Our work has been experimental, innovative and strongly grounded in research. Each of our projects offers new challenges in unexplored domains of design and experience. Ever since its conception as a design studio Matrika has shown the ability to render design services for a multitude of project challenges. From Project Management to Product Development we have been constantly implementing cross disciplinary services to gain understanding and expertise. Currently involved in the development of museums and museum spaces around the country our abilities in developing architectural solutions, exhibition strategies, graphic interventions, heritage
development and lighting design are reaching new levels of evolution in the industry. We intend to use these skills in the realm of hospitality, housing, branding and lighting design projects in the future
Abhishek Ray, Principal Architect at Matrika Design Collaborative, holds a degree in architecture and has a profound interest in design and technology. He adopts a research-driven approach to design, focusing on processes such as domain research, contextual design principles, architectural sketch concepts, detailed development, and visualization.
Growing up in a family of engineers, doctors, and artists, and moving between multiple cities in India, Abhishek was exposed to a diverse range of disciplines from an early age. His multidisciplinary design approach is a result of the rich learning experiences from his childhood, where he developed a passion for sketching. His sketches ranged from intricate depictions of his favorite World War aircraft to the architectural landmarks of his city.
As a young design professional, Abhishek traveled extensively, documenting his experiences through photography. He also taught design at an architecture school in Mumbai before founding Matrika Design Collaborative in 2004, combining his love for design with his commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new creative horizons.
